"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to font only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

Choose a path and follow it thoughtfully.

We are school teachers…but we are also dreamers. So in 2010 we sold our subdivision home on a quest to live a "simpler” homesteading lifestyle.  We bought some wooded acreage and began building our home.  When our home was finished we began building barns, and we just can’t seem to stop!

Initially our dream was to raise our own food: a few chickens and a garden. But the more time we spent working outside on our homestead, the more our passion and respect for the animals and nature surrounding us grew. We wanted to try to make a difference in ways that we couldn’t before. That’s when we started hooved animal rescue. Rescuing animals has been a life changing experience for us, and we count our blessings that we are able to provide this service and educate others on the humane treatment of animals. One special animal we rescued was Shiloh Sheep. We fell in love with her gentle nature, which of course led us to raising and breeding East Friesian sheep.

Our homesteading lifestyle has been far from “simple”, in fact, it’s been downright difficult at times! But it has also been rewarding and fruitful and has taught us so much. We hope you enjoy the services and products that Walden Woods Farm has to offer.
